A Picture is Worth 1,000 Words: Visual Supports for Children with Autism 工 作 坊

What are the implications on ways to best support our children?
This workshop will explain why visual supports are useful for many children with autism and how they can be used to reduce behavior problems and improve communication. Examples will be provided for visual supports that help with transitions between activities that help children complete tasks independently. Pat will also talk about “visual maps” She will use various examples to explain “visual maps” that can be used to help children understand the consequences of their behaviour. Last but not the least, you may have questions about how technologies play a role. This is a great question ! Examples of iPad applications that can be used to create visual schedules will be discussed as well.
