Psychological Treatment for Autism
(Relationship Development Intervention)
Wanted:
l English- speaking Family with Child under the Spectrum (Up to the age of 18; Any ethnic group)
l Committed parents who are willing to devote their time on remediating the social and emotional deficits of their ASD child
Psychological Services Provided:
l Free Autistic treatment (Relationship Development Intervention) for a minimum of 18 months, under the care of Dr. Adrian Tong, Registered Counselling Psychologist in HK and Ontario, Canada; Supervised Trainee of RDI
What is RDI Program?
l It is a diligently researched, evidenced based system for remediating experience-sharing deficits in autism and similar neuro-developmental conditions.
l It is based on a cognitive and developmental systems approach that emphasizes teaching children to appraise and adapt their actions to others as they participate in ongoing interactive process (development of a co-regulatory emotional system and cultivating dynamic intelligence) , rather than on providing instruction in discrete skills (as in the case of traditional behavioral approaches)
l Study has shown after 16 months, 70% of the RDI children had improved in at least one diagnostic category on the Autistic Diagnostic Observation Schedule (Gutstein, in press)
